The seminar, held on July 23 under the theme “Solving Document, Drawing, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) Issues in the Construction Industry with AI,” was organized to share the complexities of document and drawing management faced by the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) industry and discuss solutions utilizing AI technology.

Junseon Baek, CEO of SearchDog, emphasized in a presentation titled “Automating Drawing and BIM Review with AI” that core construction information is separated into contract and regulation documents, 2D drawings, and 3D BIM models, making technology to connect these elements essential. He explained that since drawings themselves do not contain legal regulations or contract requirements, contract and regulation documents must be analyzed together to detect conflicts, omissions, and compliance violations.

Sangyoung Jung, head of business development at SearchDog, explained in his presentation “Reading Unstructured Documents in the Construction Industry” that construction documents differ in version, language, and terminology, making it difficult to identify the latest versions using standard AI searches. He stressed the importance of automatically connecting these differences to provide highly reliable search results.

Seminar participants experienced workflows on the SearchDog platform through demonstrations using contracts and drawings, confirming features such as bid condition extraction, project standard comparison, and automatic risk item verification.

SearchDog plans to use this seminar as an opportunity to expand collaboration within the construction industry. The company has previously signed supply contracts with major construction firms such as Samsung C&T. In January of this year, it raised USD 750,000 (about KRW 1 billion) in seed funding from Asia2G and FuturePlay and additionally secured KRW 2 billion in support from the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, bringing its total growth capital to KRW 3 billion.

CEO Baek stated, “Through this seminar, we were able to build a consensus among stakeholders in the construction industry regarding the adoption of AI technology. Going forward, we plan to work with a variety of industry partners to expand SearchDog’s technology beyond EPC into other sectors such as retail and finance, where complex document-based decision-making is critical.”
