Toyota Korea to Host Customer Participation Program "TGR Rally Play"
A Korean-Style Rally Program Open to the General Public
Toyota Korea announced on August 4 that it will hold its first rally program open to the general public, the 'TGR Rally Play,' on September 5 at Ajou Motor College and the Boryeong area in Chungcheongnam-do.
The TGR Rally Play is a program designed to allow customers to directly experience the core philosophy of Toyota Gazoo Racing—"The road creates people, and people create cars." Unlike traditional rallies that focus on speed and lap times, this is a customer participation-type “Korean-style rally” where participants perform a variety of missions while observing traffic laws on public roads, combining driving, sightseeing, and cultural experiences into a single journey.
Toyota Korea incorporated elements of Japan's "Scavenger Rally" format—traditionally considered exclusive to motorsport enthusiasts—by integrating core rally aspects such as pace notes and the division of roles between driver and co-driver. The event focuses on accurate course navigation and cooperation among participants, not speed, so anyone can enjoy the excitement of a rally without pressure.
Each team will consist of two participants: a driver and a co-driver. Using pace notes and driving information, teams will travel approximately 66 kilometers around the Boryeong area. Teams will visit checkpoints established at local cafés, farms, cultural heritage sites, and specialty shops, perform various missions, and in the process experience the basic structure and teamwork of a rally while also enjoying the local tourism and cultural content.
The TGR Rally Play will be held with a total of 70 teams: 55 in the "Open Class" for families and general customers, and 15 in the "Advanced Class" for motorsport enthusiasts. Advanced Class participants will also take part in a gymkhana program at the gallery stage inside Ajou Motor College.
On the day of the event, various motorsport contents will be presented in collaboration with the "AMC Motor Festival Gala Show (AMF)," organized by Ajou Motor College, including a drift show run, a tuned car exhibition, and a TGR brand experience booth.
Dae-Hwan Kang, Vice President of Toyota Korea, said, "TGR Rally Play is a program designed so that anyone can easily enjoy the excitement of rallying and directly experience the philosophy of Toyota Gazoo Racing. Going forward, we will continue to introduce new automotive culture through various programs that allow customers to experience motorsport more familiarly and will also grow together with local communities."
