The SEED Camp is a community contribution initiative that leverages Seoul National University's educational resources and infrastructure to provide Siheung youth with opportunities for career exploration and educational experiences. The camp runs until August 14, taking place at both the Gwanak and Siheung campuses of Seoul National University.
On the first day, more than 50 high school students from the Siheung area participated. The students attended lectures on career paths led by Seoul National University professors, toured the campus, and engaged in discussions about majors and future directions with university student mentors. They also spent time examining their personal aptitudes and areas of interest in depth.
Approximately 330 elementary, middle, and high school students are participating in this year’s camp. The program consists of five courses: university major exploration mentoring, writing for communication and critical thinking, advanced basic science research, creative basic science inquiry, and convergence research on future mobility. Participation is completely free of charge.
Going forward, students will strengthen their critical thinking, creativity, and career planning abilities by engaging in activities tailored to their grade level and interests—ranging from writing and basic sciences to future mobility.
A representative from Seoul National University commented, "The SEED Camp is a program designed to share the university’s excellent educational resources and experience with local youth. Together with Siheung City, we will continue to operate robust educational programs that allow students to experience a breadth of academic disciplines and discover their aptitudes and potential."
