"CXMT of China Plans Additional Memory Chip Plant in Beijing"
"Monthly Production Capacity to Double"
Reuters reported on the 3rd, citing multiple sources, that China’s largest memory semiconductor company, Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT), is pursuing plans to build an additional memory semiconductor factory in Beijing.
According to the report, CXMT is reviewing a plan to establish a new 12-inch memory semiconductor factory in the Yizhuang area in southeastern Beijing, and is discussing financing arrangements with the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area for this purpose.
It is also known that some state-owned enterprises have expressed their intention to participate in the investment.
However, according to sources, the discussions are still at an early stage, and both the size of the investment and the financing details may be subject to change in the future.

Reuters previously reported that CXMT is also pushing ahead with new plant construction in Hefei, Anhui Province—where its headquarters are located—as well as in Shanghai, and is holding investment talks with other local governments.
If all these plans are realized, CXMT’s monthly production capacity is expected to double from the current level to 600,000 units.
According to sources, CXMT currently operates three factories, including those in Hefei, with each factory producing about 100,000 units per month.
The production scale and investment amount for the new plant in Beijing have not yet been released.
Industry sources note that building an advanced memory semiconductor plant typically requires more than USD 10 billion (approximately KRW 14.3 trillion).
