First Heat-Related Death of the Year Reported in Incheon Amid Heatwave Advisory
The first heat-related fatality of the year has occurred in Incheon, where a heatwave advisory is in effect.
According to the city of Incheon on August 3, at around 6:32 a.m. the previous day, a report was received via 119 that "a man in his 40s is wandering the streets in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon without wearing a shirt."
At the time, the man had a body temperature exceeding 38 degrees Celsius and was transported to the hospital by emergency responders. However, his body temperature continued to rise, his condition worsened, and he was pronounced dead at around 4 a.m. on this day, about one day after being admitted.
The city of Incheon stated, based on the attending medical staff's assessment, that Mr. A died from heatstroke, and is currently investigating the specific circumstances.
