In July, Baemin obtained the operational safety certification for the new model from the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA).
Previously, since February of last year, Baemin has been running pilot robot delivery services in areas near the Baemin B Mart Gangnam Nonhyeon branch. When ordering from B Mart, if the robot delivery option is selected and the minimum order amount is met, the robot delivers the order to the first floor of the building at the provided address.
Robot delivery ensures stable service even in adverse weather conditions, such as heat waves and heavy rain. More than 99% of the total travel distance is carried out through fully autonomous driving without human intervention. Even during last month's monsoon season, the average delivery time remained stable at around 25 minutes.
As of June, the number of robot delivery orders increased by approximately 40% compared to the previous month and by 240% compared to the same period last year when the pilot service was first launched. The number of new customers continues to increase steadily.
The new Dilly model features a redesigned exterior using different materials to reduce weight. The previous plastic body was replaced with expanded polypropylene (EPP), which is easier to recycle, lighter, and more resistant to heat and impact. The weight has been reduced by about 8% compared to the previous model, allowing for higher maximum speed and longer driving range.
According to the Intelligent Robots Act's operational safety certification standards for outdoor mobile robots, the previous model exceeded 100 kg in weight and was limited to a speed of 10 km/h. However, the new model, weighing less than 100 kg, can reach speeds of up to 15 km/h. The EPP material also offers excellent thermal insulation and cooling properties.
Enhancements to the CPU, cameras, and sensors have improved the robot's perception, processing speed, and autonomous driving performance. The addition of a rear camera is expected to further improve vehicle recognition rates, helping to prevent accidents.
With the new model, Baemin plans to expand its robot delivery services. The robots currently deliver orders within a 2 km radius, with plans to broaden this range in the future. The goal is to introduce robot delivery services at locations beyond the B Mart Gangnam Nonhyeon branch within the year.

Byungoh Kim, Head of Robotics LAB at Woowa Brothers, said, "By changing the exterior material, we were able to consider environmental factors while improving overall performance. In the second half of the year, we will work to further advance autonomous driving technology and monitoring capabilities so that more customers can encounter Baemin's Dilly robot in a wider variety of places."
