The opportunity to observe fireflies—a rare sight in urban areas—has spread by word of mouth, leading to a significant increase in repeat visits.
Since its launch in 2017, the Firefly Festival has become a staple of Everland's summer programming, and this year, visitor convenience has seen major improvements. Now, any Everland visitor can participate in the experience free of charge by lining up onsite on a first-come, first-served basis, thanks to updated operational procedures.
A variety of experience programs have also been arranged. Guests can learn about the life cycle of fireflies (egg, larva, pupa, adult) and their bioluminescent mechanisms—key ecological features—through zookeeper storytelling and video materials. Next, visitors move to the “underground forest experience zone,” where they can witness thousands of fireflies glowing in a breathtaking display. Emotional music featuring the sounds of nature enhances the immersive atmosphere.
The area surrounding the experience zone is designed with a "Starlight Camping" theme, featuring photo spots and mood lighting from Puppa Town to the Lost Valley education center. Camping chairs and campfires are placed throughout to further heighten the sense of immersion.
An Everland representative commented, "As this year’s Firefly Festival is now completely free of charge, we are welcoming large numbers of guests every day. We hope that families can get a close-up look at these enchanting natural lights, appreciating both the value of life and the romance of a summer night."
Meanwhile, Everland offers a variety of other summer and nighttime attractions such as "BamBam Summer Night" and "Summer Night Safari." Cost-saving promotions are also available, including the Two Park (2Park) event, which provides free entry to Everland on the day of a Night Ticket or Caribbean Bay use.
