The event was attended by Lee Ho-hyun, Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment; Wi Seong-gon, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province; Seok Seung-woo, Director of the Eco-friendly Safety Division at the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute; and Oh Sae-ki, Head of the Eco Solution Lab at LG Electronics, among other key stakeholders.
The first installation took place in a 55-pyeong (approximately 182 square meters) detached house, where LG Electronics’ high-efficiency integrated heat pump system boiler, the "LG Therma V," was installed. Adopting an air-source heat pump method, LG Therma V can generate approximately four to five times more thermal energy than the electricity it consumes. As a result, it can reduce energy costs by approximately 40–60% and decrease carbon emissions compared to conventional fossil fuel boilers.
Furthermore, the unit’s structure integrates the outdoor unit and key components, allowing for use of the existing hot water piping without the need for separate refrigerant pipe installation—greatly improving installation convenience. By applying R32 refrigerant, which has a low global warming potential (GWP), the environmental impact is reduced. In addition, user convenience is enhanced with remote control functionality via the LG ThinQ app.
LG Electronics has been operating its heat pump business globally since 2008. In 2011, it began its system boiler business domestically, and since 2018, it has been the only Korean manufacturer to supply integrated residential heat pump system boilers, accumulating market capabilities optimized for the Korean market.
In particular, achievements in the global market are becoming more pronounced. The company has supplied heat pumps to more than 100,000 households across five Southern European countries, including France and Spain, and continues to provide products to large residential complexes in North Macedonia. In Germany, it is expanding supply through strategic partnerships with local installers, and in the United Kingdom, LG Electronics has signed a partnership with the country’s largest electricity supplier, Octopus Energy, to supply heat pumps—steadily expanding its business base across Europe.
