Number of Corporate Clients Also Surpasses 2 Million
The number of active users of OpenAI's artificial intelligence (AI) service has surpassed 1 billion.
On July 31 (local time), OpenAI announced that its AI platform has exceeded 1 billion active users, and the number of corporate clients has also topped 2 million. This milestone comes 3 years and 8 months after the launch of ChatGPT on November 30, 2022.
ChatGPT gained 1 million users within just 5 days of its launch, then surpassed 100 million weekly active users (WAU) within its first year. This figure reached 200 million in August 2024, increased to 500 million in August of last year, and climbed to 800 million by October of the same year. In February of this year, it reached 900 million active users.
Recently, OpenAI released 'GPT-5.6 Sol', the coding model 'Codex', and the agent tool 'ChatGPT Work.' In addition, prices for the more cost-efficient models 'GPT-5.6 Terra' and 'GPT-5.6 Luna' were reduced by 20 to 80 percent.
