Musk to Inject $100 Million in Ammo to Support Republicans in U.S. Midterm Elections
Expected to Focus on Battleground States and Boost Voter Turnout
Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla and the world's richest person, is reportedly planning to contribute more than $100 million to support the Republican Party ahead of the U.S. midterm elections in November.
According to reports from U.S. political outlets such as Axios and The New York Times (NYT) on July 31 (local time), Musk is reviving the "America PAC," a Super PAC (political fundraising committee) he personally founded. During the 2024 presidential election, Musk made headlines by investing $260 million (approximately 370 billion won) in America PAC to support then-Republican candidate Donald Trump’s campaign.
In the lead-up to the midterm elections, Musk is expected to contribute at least $100 million (about 140 billion won) to America PAC. Citing anonymous sources, media outlets reported that Musk has authorized spending between $100 million and $120 million on America PAC's new field operations program. Sources added that the main objective is to mobilize conservative supporters, especially segments of the electorate who tend not to vote in years without a presidential election.
Musk’s America PAC is reportedly focusing on Senate races in five states: Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, and Ohio. It is also considering activities in North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas. Additionally, America PAC supported House election campaigns in three states: California, Wisconsin, and Washington. These areas are regarded as battleground states that could shift the partisan balance in this year’s midterm elections.
However, unlike during the 2024 presidential election and the 2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court election, Musk is not expected to make personal appearances on the campaign trail. The NYT explained that after the defeat in the Wisconsin election, Musk concluded that his visible involvement could have unintended negative effects.
America PAC is run by political adviser Chris Young. The organization plans to encourage voter turnout among conservatives by visiting their homes or through digital advertisements and mail campaigns. During the 2024 presidential election, America PAC visited 10 million households across six battleground states to encourage voting.
In this midterm election, the Republican Party is estimated to have raised far more funds than the Democratic Party. Currently, Republican Super PACs hold approximately $300 million (about 433.3 billion won) more than their Democratic counterparts, while "MAGA Inc.," the Super PAC supporting President Trump, has a separate $400 million (about 577.7 billion won) in reserves. With the addition of Musk’s America PAC, the Republicans’ financial advantage is set to become even more pronounced.

Meanwhile, Musk, previously considered the “key architect” behind Trump’s election victory, had a falling-out with President Trump over budget legislation and resigned from his post as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He also announced the founding of a third party called the "America Party." However, after a dramatic reconciliation with Trump, Musk began making new plans to support the Republican Party once again.
