Delivery Discounts, Safety Management, and Facility Operations Inspected
First Week Tent Reservations Fully Booked, Reflecting Strong Public Response
Intensive Weekend Patrols Planned by Safety Personnel
Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul, visited the area around Ttukseom Hangang Park one day before the opening of "Hangang Bamping" to meet with local business representatives and conduct a safety inspection.
Hangang Bamping is a temporary urban campground designed for citizens to spend a night while enjoying the night view of the Hangang River. It will operate daily throughout August from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day at the lawn areas in front of the Mulbit Stage at Yeouido Hangang Park and at the Hangangpleple Lawn at Ttukseom Hangang Park.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government envisions using Hangang Bamping to invigorate nearby commercial zones and showcase a Seoul-style model of nighttime economy. [Related Article = Oh Se-hoon: "I will directly manage the nighttime economy... creating jobs and promoting Seoul as a G3 tourism city"]
On July 31, Mayor Oh discussed ways to attract Hangang visitors to nearby traditional markets and neighborhood commercial areas with local business leaders in the Ttukseom Hangang Park area, listening to feedback from the field. He also pledged to strengthen support for small businesses throughout every stage of their growth—from startup and stabilizing management, to taking a second chance after failure.
In this context, the city is running a special discount event called "Seoul Delivery + Ddinggyoyo Hangang Delivery Zone Special Discount Event," offering discounts for deliveries to designated zones at Yeouido, Ttukseom, and Mangwon Hangang Parks. Users who set the designated delivery zones as their pickup point in the Ddinggyoyo application and order more than 25,000 won will receive an immediate discount of 3,000 won.
One additional temporary delivery zone has been added. The notification system and design have also been improved to make it easier for citizens to find the delivery zones at night.
Mayor Oh toured the campground and temporary delivery zone at the Hangangpleple Lawn, checking on facility installation and preparations for visitor safety ahead of the official opening.
For the event, a total of 200 tents—100 each at Yeouido and Ttukseom Hangang Parks—have been prepared for public use. A Seoul city official explained, "All tent reservations for the week of August 1 to August 7 are already booked," and added, "Reservations for the second week will open at 2 p.m. tomorrow."
Citizens who were unable to make a reservation may bring their own tents or sunshades for up to four people. In order to encourage spending at nearby businesses, consecutive overnight stays and cooking will be restricted.
Mayor Oh also visited the swimming pool at Ttukseom Hangang Park to conduct a simple water quality test and inspect safety management and facility operations to prepare for nighttime use.
Since July 19, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has been operating six water leisure facilities, including swimming pools at Yeouido and Ttukseom Hangang Parks, and water playgrounds at Jamsil, Nanji, Gwangnaru, and Yanghwa. Of these, the Yeouido, Ttukseom, Jamsil, and Nanji facilities are open until 10 p.m., enabling nighttime leisure activities connected to Hangang Bamping.
On weekends, the city, together with the police and safety management personnel, plans to conduct intensive patrols. In case of crimes such as illegal filming, incidents will be reported to the police immediately for rapid on-site response.
Mayor Oh stated, "The nighttime economy is a core strategy of the ninth popularly elected Seoul city government to expand the city's charm and competitiveness by extending its usable hours and spaces," adding, "Hangang Bamping is the first pilot to turn the river into a '24-hour vitality space' where people can safely stay and enjoy the area even at night."
