Teen Detained and Sent to Prosecutors for Stabbing High School Girl in Seoul Residential Area
Attempted Murder Charge Expanded to Include Violation of Stalking Punishment Act
A teenage boy who attacked a high school girl of a similar age with a weapon in a residential area of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, has been handed over to the prosecution while in detention.
The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 31st that the minor, identified as A, has been referred for indictment on charges of attempted murder and violation of the Stalking Punishment Act.
According to the police, A is accused of stabbing a teenage high school girl, identified as B, whom he knew personally, with a weapon at around 1:26 p.m. on July 23 in an alley of a residential area in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
B sustained injuries to her abdomen and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Seoul Southern District Court held a pretrial detention hearing (warrant review) for A on July 25 and issued an arrest warrant, citing concerns that he might destroy evidence or flee.
