Bio Bijou to Expand North American Business in Second Half... Turnaround in Performance Expected
There are expectations that Bio Bijou, a medical aesthetics specialist company, will accelerate its business expansion focusing on the North American market in the second half of the year, making a turnaround in performance possible.
On July 31, Hana Securities projected that Bio Bijou’s consolidated sales for this year will increase by 31.3% year-on-year to KRW 37.41 billion, and operating profit will improve by 162% to KRW 11.08 billion. Hana Securities researcher Han Yugun analyzed, “After struggling last year due to the impact of deferred revenue recognition and marketing expenses, a performance turnaround is expected this year, driven by diversification of global sales bases in North America, the Middle East, and Asia, and the launch of a new ECM (extracellular matrix) skin booster product.”
Bio Bijou significantly improved profitability in the first quarter, posting a gross profit margin (GPM) of 69% and an operating profit margin (OPM) of 32%. Operating profit reached KRW 2.6 billion, surpassing 61% of last year’s annual operating profit (KRW 4.2 billion) in just one quarter.
Bio Bijou is targeting the North American market in response to the increasing global demand for K-beauty and aesthetics. The company's medical cosmetics brand, Kandorub, is being sold through major North American online and offline distribution channels such as Amazon, Walmart Online, Ulta Beauty, and REALO DRUGS. Centered on its local subsidiary 'Bio Bijou USA', the company is strengthening its local marketing and distribution networks, aiming to achieve more than KRW 5 billion in sales from North America alone this year. Additionally, Bio Bijou is expanding its export footprint to Southeast Asia and South America, and is also considering establishing a new subsidiary in Europe.
The company is also securing growth engines in its medical device and medical aesthetics businesses. Recently, Bio Bijou won the exclusive domestic distribution rights for the hADM-based ECM skin booster brand ‘Cellivion’. Cellivion is a skin revitalizer product that differs from conventional beauty-focused ECM skin boosters by emphasizing the recovery and regenerative environment of the skin tissue. It is evaluated to enhance tissue recovery and regenerative efficiency by applying the low-temperature manufacturing process ‘allo-PELT’, which preserves ECM structure and key proteins.
The transition to automated processes at its own production plant in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, is accelerating improvements in productivity and profitability for high-margin skin booster products. In addition, by expanding its portfolio with high-value-added medical aesthetics products such as the HA filler brand ‘CORENA’, which obtained a domestic product license in March, ECM skin boosters, and PDRN, Bio Bijou is further strengthening its business competitiveness.
