Thanks to the rising popularity of Korean culture, many locals visit the area on weekends. Due to the efforts of the Korean community, the street was officially designated as "Korean Street" on July 14. Until now, the Korean Association has operated night patrols through a private security company, funded by donations from the Korean community.
Hyundai Motor Group decided to donate vehicles after learning that the Korean Association was struggling to secure funds needed for night patrols and that local merchants had begun to participate in patrol activities themselves. The expectation is that deploying electric vehicles, which have relatively low maintenance costs, for patrol purposes will help reduce nighttime security gaps while also contributing to the stable operation of the local community.
A Hyundai Motor Company representative stated, "By going beyond simply providing vehicles and actively helping to address the real difficulties faced by the local Korean community, Korean companies are strengthening ties between their home country and overseas Korean societies, and supporting local community involvement."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group has been continuously engaging in various social contribution activities in Chile, building connections with local customers and seeking mutual prosperity with the community. When a massive earthquake measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale struck Chile in 2010, the group provided USD 200,000 to aid recovery efforts and assist disaster victims.
