U.S. President Donald Trump announced on July 30 (local time) that an agreement had been reached to completely disarm Hamas and all armed groups in the Gaza Strip.
President Trump posted on his social network service, Truth Social, stating, "The Peace Committee has reached a historic agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all armed groups in the Gaza Strip," adding that this represents "significant progress toward permanent peace and security."
He explained that, under the agreement, the Gaza Strip would come under the rule of a new Palestinian government. He claimed that this new government would closely cooperate with the Peace Committee to support Gaza residents and to ensure that the Gaza Strip is not used again as a base for attacks targeting Israel.
President Trump described this agreement as a key milestone in his proposed "20-Point Peace Initiative." According to the plan, the agreement will be implemented in phases, during which the Israeli military will withdraw in step with the disarmament process, and an international stabilization force along with a new Palestinian police force will take over security in the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized, "Just one year ago, intense warfare and a humanitarian crisis continued, with hostages being harshly held captive," and added, "We have made historic progress, but there is still much work to be done."

He went on to thank Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for their mediation in the agreement, stressing, "We will not allow the threats that originated in the Gaza Strip on October 7 to be rebuilt." However, President Trump did not disclose details such as who the parties to the agreement are, the specific timetable for implementation, or whether Hamas has accepted the plan.
