During his official visit to Chile, President Lee Jaemyung presented President José Antonio Kast of Chile with the "Najeonchilgi Ilwol Obongdo," a traditional lacquerware piece that reinterprets a symbol of the Joseon Royal Court using the Najeon technique, on July 30 (local time). The gift carries wishes for the stable governance of President Kast, who took office in March, and the continued prosperity of Chile.
According to the Office of the President, President Lee delivered both the Najeonchilgi Ilwol Obongdo and a set of traditional Korean brassware wine glasses to President Kast. The Ilwol Obongdo depicts the sun, moon, and five mountain peaks and was traditionally displayed behind the throne of Joseon-era kings. This particular gift is an artwork that expresses the Ilwol Obongdo using a traditional lacquer inlay technique with mother-of-pearl. The Office of the President explained that the gift was specifically chosen to convey hopes that President Kast, with wise leadership, will usher in prosperity for Chile.
The set of brassware wine glasses was intended to symbolize the connection between Chilean culture and traditional Korean craftsmanship. Taking into account Chile's stature as a globally renowned wine-producing nation, wine glasses were selected, and they were crafted to showcase the beauty of Korean traditional brassware and advanced metalworking artistry.
President Lee also presented First Lady María Pía Adriasola with a set of white porcelain Western-style dinnerware and a premium K-Beauty package. The porcelain dishes feature a crystalline glaze technique that produces striking blue crystal patterns. According to the Office of the President, these gifts express the hope that the friendship and exchange between the two countries will shine long into the future, like the starlight in the night sky.
The K-Beauty package is curated with various products from leading Korean premium cosmetics brands, highlighting a distinctive Korean sensibility. This was chosen in light of the growing interest in Korean cosmetics in Chile and the strong potential for market growth there.
The Chilean side, in return, presented President Lee and his wife with gifts including an alpaca blanket, a coffee drip set, a jewelry box made from lapis lazuli—Chile’s representative mineral—and Chilean wine. The wine selection consisted of 12 bottles, featuring well-known Chilean brands such as Tarapacá and Lapostolle.
Separately from the official gifts, President Kast also spontaneously handed President Lee the two pens used during the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between the two governments.

This exchange of gifts took place at the Santiago Presidential Palace during the leaders’ summit, the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony, and the official luncheon. Through his official visit to Chile, President Lee discussed ways to modernize the free trade agreement and expand supply chain cooperation for key minerals such as lithium and copper.
