"Owner Shakes Forklift as a 'Prank'... Employee Falls 5 Meters and Files Police Complaint"
Complaint Filed Seeking Prosecution of Company Representative
A food material company employee in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, has filed a complaint with the police, alleging that he was injured after falling from a forklift due to the company owner's prank. The police have launched an investigation.
According to Yonhap News Agency on July 30, a man in his 40s, referred to as A, who works at a food material company in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, submitted a complaint at the end of last month to Gimpo Police Station, seeking punishment for the company's representative, B, in his 50s, on charges of causing bodily harm.
In the complaint, A claimed, "In early June, while I was working on a forklift to place items on a high shelf, I told B, who was operating the forklift, not to shake it as I have a fear of heights, but he kept shaking the forklift as a prank, causing me to fall 5 meters below."
At that time, A fell toward a pile of boxes beside him and then onto the floor, temporarily losing consciousness. It was determined that B was driving the forklift.
However, B reportedly told police investigators that it was not a prank, but rather an accident that occurred during the work process.
It is reported that A has since resigned from his job due to aftereffects of the incident.
The police plan to further investigate witness statements and refer B to the prosecution.
