Yuhan Corporation Reports Q2 Operating Profit of 66.9 Billion Won, Up 34% Year-on-Year
Milestone and Royalty from Lazertinib’s European Launch Reflected
Sales Rise 10% Year-on-Year to 639.5 Billion Won
Yuhan Corporation significantly increased its operating profit by more than 30%, driven by the growth of its pharmaceuticals and overseas businesses, as well as royalty income from its lung cancer drug Lazertinib.
On July 30, Yuhan Corporation announced its consolidated earnings for the second quarter of the year, reporting sales of 639.5 billion won and operating profit of 66.9 billion won. These figures represent increases of 10.4% and 34.1%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
Steady growth in the pharmaceuticals and overseas business sectors, along with the inflow of a 30 million USD (approximately 43.1 billion won) milestone payment following the European launch of the Lazertinib combination therapy, contributed to improved profitability. Running royalty income tied to overseas sales also increased.
Pharmaceutical business sales reached 366.8 billion won, a 6.3% increase year-on-year. Sales of over-the-counter drugs rose by 11.3% to 64 billion won, driven by higher demand for products such as MagB and vitamin C supplements. In the prescription drug sector, growth in the dyslipidemia treatments Rosuvamibe and Atovamibe, as well as the hepatitis B treatment Vemlidy, led to a 5.3% rise to 302.8 billion won.
Sales from overseas business grew by 5.4% to 121 billion won. Yuhan Corporation is managing its mid- to long-term production plans based on contractual volumes it signed in May with Bridge Biopharma in the United States (approximately 56 billion won) and Gilead Sciences (approximately 210.2 billion won).
Healthcare business sales declined by 5.5% to 65 billion won. This decrease was attributed to lower sales of insecticides, including mosquito repellents, following the revision of biocide safety management regulations.
