Incheon City Applies for Power Generation License for Public-Driven Offshore Wind Power Industrial Complex
On July 30, Incheon City announced that it has applied for a power generation business license to the Electric Power Commission of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment for the Incheon Public-Driven Offshore Wind Power Industrial Complex (IC1).
Incheon Urban Corporation (iH), the energy-specialized agency of Incheon City, handled the application, with a requested capacity of 680 MW (megawatts).
The city plans to phase in the remaining 320 MW of the government's designated 1 GW (gigawatt) capacity for the IC1 complex as standards related to the linkage with the power generation district system and other criteria are established.

The three conditions include alleviating concerns about overlap with unmanned island marine protected areas in the West Sea, consulting with the Ministry of National Defense regarding military operations, and discussing power system connection.
Of these, issues related to marine protected areas were resolved through a Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announcement on July 7, while consultations on military operations have been in progress since conditional consent from the Ministry of National Defense in February, with additional administrative agreements being pursued with subordinate units. The city plans to fully meet all conditions for the industrial complex designation within this year and proceed with the project on a stable basis.
