Hyundai Motor Group announced on July 30 that it has appointed Junghyun Kwon, Vice President, as the Head of the Autonomous Driving Development Center in the AVP Division, to strengthen its competitiveness in the autonomous driving sector, a core area for future mobility.
With this appointment, Hyundai Motor Group plans to advance its technologies across the autonomous driving sector and accelerate the implementation of its future mobility strategy.

View original imageVice President Kwon is an expert in autonomous driving AI. He most recently led intelligent robot development at Samsung Electronics, and before that, was responsible for autonomous driving software development and commercialization at NVIDIA.
Based on his experience developing and commercializing a wide range of AI technologies for autonomous driving—including perception software for autonomous vehicles, deep learning, machine learning, and computer vision—Vice President Kwon will oversee everything from the development to the commercialization of core autonomous driving technologies within the group.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group is accelerating the realization of physical AI by continuously recruiting key talents in the SDV (Software-Defined Vehicle) and autonomous driving fields.

On July 1, Hyundai Motor Group appointed Dongwook Kim, who previously led the development of iPhone, vehicle, and human robotics wireless communication systems at global companies such as Apple and Tesla, as Head of the SDV Platform Development Center in the AVP Division. The group also hired Jeremy Ma, who drove robotics and autonomous driving software development and commercialization at Apple, Toyota, and NVIDIA, as Head of Silicon Valley in the AVP Division.
