Hanmi Semiconductor Chairman Dongshin Kwak Acquires Additional Company Shares Worth 5 Billion Won
Dongshin Kwak, Chairman of Hanmi Semiconductor, has personally acquired company shares worth 5 billion won using his own funds.
According to Hanmi Semiconductor on the 30th, this purchase is the fulfillment of the share buyback plan announced on July 2. The shares were acquired at a unit price of 170,565 won, totaling 5 billion won, raising Chairman Kwak's ownership stake to 33.62%. Kwak had previously purchased 3 billion won worth of shares in April and 8 billion won in June. With this latest 5 billion won buyback, his total acquisitions this year amount to 16 billion won. Since 2023, the total value of shares he has acquired with his own funds reaches 69.5 billion won.
The cumulative dividends received by Chairman Kwak from 2024 amount to 64.74 billion won. This demonstrates that he has reinvested more than his dividend earnings into buying company shares, a move that exemplifies responsible management by returning the fruits of company performance to elevate corporate value.
Chairman Kwak's acquisition of company shares reflects his confidence in Hanmi Semiconductor's technological capabilities and future growth within the global artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor equipment market. It is also interpreted as a determination to enhance corporate value, driven by the view that the company's stock price remains undervalued compared to its strong growth momentum from US market entry and next-generation equipment supply.
In fact, Hanmi Semiconductor is growing based on its unrivaled technological expertise. In the second quarter of this year, Hanmi Semiconductor recorded sales of 251.1 billion won, achieving its largest quarterly performance since its establishment in 1980. Its operating margin for the second quarter reached 51.9%, demonstrating uniquely high profitability in the global semiconductor equipment market.
Hanmi Semiconductor currently ranks number one worldwide in the TC bonder equipment sector, which is essential for producing High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), a core component of AI semiconductors. The company is also showing remarkable results in the AI system semiconductor market, and by the end of this year, Hanmi Semiconductor is set to officially enter the US semiconductor market with the establishment of a subsidiary, "Hanmi USA," in San Jose, California.
