Beauty Segment Returns to Profitability, While Beverage Profitability Declines
On July 29, LG Household & Health Care announced that, on a consolidated basis for the second quarter of this year, it recorded sales of 1.6574 trillion won and an operating profit of 102.8 billion won. Compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 3.3% and operating profit grew by 87.5%.
However, net profit stood at 77.6 billion won, representing a 12.6% decrease compared to the previous quarter, but a 101.2% increase from the same period last year (38.6 billion won).
In overseas business, North America surpassed China for the first time. North American sales in the second quarter reached 205.8 billion won, up 47.3% year-on-year, whereas sales in China were 176 billion won, marking a 5% decrease over the same period. Total overseas sales amounted to 584.5 billion won, a 12.6% year-on-year increase.
However, this result included some one-time gains from U.S. tariff refunds. LG Household & Health Care explained, "Even excluding one-off gains, profitability improved, driven by the growth of premium brands and the expansion of our North American business."
By business division, the beauty segment led the results with sales of 818.4 billion won, up 3.9% from the same period last year, and turned to a profit with an operating profit of 44.4 billion won.
The Home Care & Daily Beauty (HDB) segment continued to grow, recording sales of 377.6 billion won (up 5.5%) and an operating profit of 22.3 billion won (up 23.1%). In contrast, Refreshment (beverages) sales edged up just 0.5% to 461.4 billion won, while operating profit fell 15.1% to 36.1 billion won due to cost pressures.
For the first half of the year, company-wide sales totaled 3.234 trillion won, a 2.1% decrease, but operating profit increased by 6.8% to 210.6 billion won.
A representative from LG Household & Health Care stated, "Trend-leading products released through differentiated R&D capabilities are receiving good responses from customers," and added, "We will lead 'Intelligent K-Beauty' based on scientific research by expanding investment in markets and core channels with high growth potential."

Meanwhile, at its board meeting on this day, LG Household & Health Care resolved to pay an interim dividend of 1,500 won per share for 2026. The interim dividend will be paid to shareholders as of August 14 and will be distributed by August 28. LG Household & Health Care has been conducting interim dividends as part of its shareholder return policy since last year.
