KDB Selects Five Fund Managers for Southern Regional Growth Fund, KRW 345 Billion to Be Raised

View original imageOn the 29th, Korea Development Bank announced that it had selected five firms as final fund managers for the "2026 Southern Regional Growth Support Fund." These include two private equity (PE) management companies and three venture capital (VC) management companies.
A total of 17 firms applied in the competition for fund manager selection. Following a review, Korea Development Bank selected two firms to manage a KRW 240 billion PE fund and three firms to manage a KRW 105 billion VC fund. The selected managers will establish a fund totaling KRW 345 billion by raising additional private capital, with KRW 100 billion contributed by Korea Development Bank as seed money. Korea Development Bank plans to expedite the fund's formation to ensure prompt capital supply to regional companies.

The Southern Regional Growth Support Fund is designed to create an investment support system tailored to the growth stage and life cycle of companies in Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Jeonnam, Gwangju, and Jeonbuk. The fund will be used to strengthen the venture ecosystem in the southern region and expand investments in strategic and emerging industries. It also aims to support corporate restructuring and competitiveness enhancements for existing companies, ultimately fostering the transformation and growth of the region's industrial base. A representative from Korea Development Bank said, "In line with government policy, we will actively fulfill our role as a policy-based financial institution supporting balanced regional development and the growth of companies in the southern region."
