Hyundai Motor Company is aiming to capture the global compact sedan market with the launch of 'The All-New Avante,' a model featuring an expanded body size and enhanced performance.
On July 29 in Seoul's Seocho-gu district, at 'Arc Gangnam,' Hyundai Motor Company held 'The All New AVANTE Tech Day,' unveiling the core technologies and development background of the All-New Avante.
The All-New Avante offers premium value that surpasses the standards of the compact sedan class, elevating aspects such as space, driving performance, safety, digital experience, and hybrid efficiency, all based on a larger body.
During the event, responsible researchers in each area provided an authentic explanation of the major features and core values of the All-New Avante—focusing on its development concept, design, safety performance, driving performance, hybrid system, and hybrid efficiency improvement technologies.
Yu-Chan Yang, Head of MSV Project 1 at the Research & Development Division, stated, “Avante is a global best-selling sedan with over 16 million units sold worldwide. By further enhancing design, practicality, and efficiency, and by applying improved performance and advanced digital features, we have completed a best-in-class global model that delivers premium value and technology experiences beyond its segment.”
Reinforced Structure and Advanced Safety Features Achieve World-Class Safety
Hyundai Motor Company has strengthened the main frame structure and rigidity of the All-New Avante and equipped it with a range of advanced safety features, improving occupant protection during collisions and elevating overall safety in various everyday driving conditions.
By increasing the application of hot stamping and high-strength steel of 1 gigapascal (GPa) or higher in key body areas, the proportion of high-strength steel throughout the body was raised from 52.6% to 58.7%. Average tensile strength was also improved by 4.7% to 718 MPa, achieving body rigidity comparable to premium large sedans.
For the first time in a company model, Hyundai Motor Company has equipped the All-New Avante with an electric shift-by-wire (SBW) emergency brake function in the P (Park) mode, enabling drivers to intuitively slow down or bring the vehicle to a complete stop using just a button in unexpected situations.
When the driver presses and holds the P button on the column-type electric shift lever, vehicle acceleration is limited, hydraulic braking is activated on all four wheels, and when the vehicle slows to less than 1 km/h, the electronic parking brake engages—ensuring a safe stop.
In addition, the All-New Avante comes standard with a pedal misapplication safety assist feature. This system limits driving force and applies braking if the driver mistakenly presses the accelerator instead of the brake when starting from a stop, reducing the risk and damage from unintended acceleration.
A Hyundai Motor Company official explained, “We developed the P mode emergency braking function so drivers can respond from the closest position to their hands if an emergency arises while holding the steering wheel. It is not designed specifically for unintended acceleration, but rather with customer safety as the highest priority.”
Optimized Suspension and Enhanced Sound Insulation for Superior Sedan Ride and Quietness
Hyundai Motor Company optimized the front and rear suspension components of the All-New Avante to absorb road shocks and deliver agile yet solid steering performance. By expanding sound-absorbing and insulating materials and reinforcing sealing structures, exterior noise is further blocked, significantly enhancing the ride comfort and quietness expected of a sedan.
The front suspension utilizes a frequency-sensitive damper valve (SFD3), providing stable chassis control in low-frequency ranges with large body movement, and refining persistent vibrations in high-frequency ranges for a premium ride quality.
The application of a hydraulic rebound stopper (HRS2) helps soften impacts from large energy inputs such as speed bumps, ensuring a smooth and stable driving feel not only in urban environments but also over bumps and rough roads. This technology is the same as that recently adopted in 'The New Grandeur.'
To further reduce road and structural noise entering the interior, Hyundai Motor Company equipped the All-New Avante with a dual-layer floor carpet, enhanced the sound insulation performance of the dashboard insulation pad, optimized the rear suspension member bushing, and introduced sound-absorbing tires, all of which contribute to superior quietness.
Hybrid System and Overall Vehicle Efficiency Improvements
The All-New Avante Hybrid delivers both enhanced driving performance and outstanding fuel economy by improving powertrain capabilities and overall vehicle efficiency.
The new hybrid system combines a third-generation Smartstream 1.6 GDI engine dedicated to hybrids and a second-generation 6-speed DCT, paired with a 45 kW drive motor (P2) and a 1.49 kWh high-voltage battery.
Reverse functionality is now driven by the hybrid drive motor, as implemented in the Palisade Hybrid, enabling the removal of existing R-mode parts in the transmission, thereby reducing weight, minimizing frictional losses, improving transmission efficiency, and providing a smoother reverse driving experience.
The system’s combined output for the All-New Avante Hybrid is 157 PS, 16 PS higher than the previous model. Launch acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h improved by 5.8% to 9.7 seconds, overtaking acceleration from 80 km/h to 120 km/h was enhanced by 16.7%, and the maximum speed is increased to 187 km/h.
Furthermore, fuel efficiency for the All-New Avante Hybrid with 17-inch wheels has been developed to be approximately 10% better than the previous model, ensuring both powerful driving and top-class efficiency even with its larger size. The vehicle also features ‘Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0’ and hybrid hierarchical predictive control, which uses navigation and vehicle-ahead information to accurately manage battery state-of-charge (SoC), thus offering a more efficient driving experience.
The All-New Avante will now feature a 2.0 gasoline engine instead of the traditional 1.6 gasoline model. A Hyundai official explained, “The 2.0 gasoline engine, already used in the Kona gasoline model, has demonstrated its efficiency and quality. We have applied fuel efficiency technologies that go beyond those in the existing Avante engines.”

Compared to its predecessor, the All-New Avante's overall length has increased by 55 mm, and its width and wheelbase by 30 mm each. The design emphasizes the fender volume, resulting in a noticeably more spacious interior.
With the enlarged body, Hyundai Motor Company has preserved the balanced three-box structure of a true sedan, while also creating a sportier impression by designing a longer hood, shorter-looking front and rear overhangs, and a lengthened dash-to-axle proportion (distance from the front wheel center to the front dashboard).
Additionally, the pronounced volume of the fenders and quarter panels gives the car a muscular 'muscle car' image, while the rear and front door panels use intersecting lines and surfaces at various angles to deliver a futuristic appearance.
The interior leverages the longer wheelbase, featuring front seats and a roof line with optimized placements and structures for increased strength and reduced thickness, which translates to class-leading second-row legroom, headroom, and shoulder room. The center console features a hidden console case and a dual wireless charging system, plus cup holders in the rear doors for added everyday convenience.
The trunk boasts a best-in-class cargo capacity of 479 liters (VDA standard), with a lower load height and a 45-mm wider upper and lower opening (up to 475 mm), facilitating the loading and unloading of strollers or large items with greater ease than even some midsize sedans.
Additionally, the All-New Avante offers an advanced digital user experience with Pleos Connect and the generative AI agent 'GLAEO AI,' as well as an open app market, all accessible via 14.6-inch and 12.9-inch 16:9 displays—transforming it from a simple entry sedan into a model equipped for cutting-edge technological experiences.
