Siheung Shincheon-dong Shared Parking Lot Wins Grand Prize at Gyeonggi-do Residents' Autonomy Best Practices Contest
Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province has won the grand prize at the Residents' Autonomy Best Practices Contest.
On July 28, Gyeonggi Province held the "2026 Gyeonggi-do Residents' Autonomy Best Practices Contest" at Dasan Hall, Gyeonggi Provincial Government, and selected Siheung City for the grand prize with its case study on "Shincheon-dong Shared Parking Lot: Autonomy Changing Everyday Life."
The Shincheon-dong Residents' Autonomy Council in Siheung City received high marks and was selected for the grand prize for addressing chronic village parking shortages by operating a shared parking lot utilizing idle spaces at schools and religious facilities.

View original imageAs a result of the presentations by the Residents' Autonomy Council members, the grand prize went to Siheung City; the top excellence award went to Gapyeong County; excellence awards were given to Gunpo City, Anseong City, and Hwaseong City; encouragement awards were received by Anyang City, Suwon City, Gwacheon City, Gwangmyeong City, Ansan City, Uijeongbu City, Pocheon City, Bucheon City, Hanam City, and Icheon City.
This contest was attended by 15 cities and counties that passed the document screening, and each shared their region's outstanding cases of residents' self-governance. To further promote resident-centered autonomy, Gyeonggi Province plans to provide KRW 29 million in outstanding project funds to the award-winning municipalities.
