Gangjin Rice Makes First Exports to Australia and the Philippines, Expanding Overseas Markets
404 Tons Exported Last Year, 170 Tons Shipped This Year
Organic Rice Exports to the United States Continue
Gangjin County, located in Jeonnam Gwangju Metropolitan Special City, is expanding the export base for Gangjin rice by supporting local rice exporters in developing overseas markets. This year, Australia and the Philippines have been newly added as export destinations, while the export of organic rice to the United States continues.
According to Gangjin County on July 28, a total of 404 tons of Gangjin rice were exported last year to countries including Mongolia, the United States, Japan, and New Zealand. The county assisted the local rice seller, Gangjin County Nonghyup Integrated RPC, in developing overseas distribution channels by identifying international buyers and providing subsidies for export logistics costs. Due to these achievements, Gangjin County received an encouraging award at the Jeollanam-do Proactive Administration Contest last year.
The total export volume planned for this year is 300 tons. As of July, 170 tons have been exported.

Alongside exports, Gangjin County Nonghyup Integrated RPC is also working to expand domestic sales channels. The company is currently promoting the supply of 3,000 tons to CJ Hetbahn and 4,500 tons to BGF Food, further broadening its domestic market reach.
Gangjin County plans to continue supporting the overseas expansion of Gangjin rice through the production of high-quality rice and various export promotion programs in the future.
