Gyeonggi Province is focusing all of its administrative capabilities to ensure its inclusion in the 5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan."
Governor Choo emphasized, "The Southern Gyeonggi Metropolitan Railroad, which will connect Jamsil, Pangyo, Suji, Gwanggyo, and Bongdam, is a core transportation network that links the entire southern region of Gyeonggi. It will serve as a pivotal transportation axis underpinning the growth of the global semiconductor mega-cluster that spans Pangyo Technovalley, Yongin, Suwon, and Hwaseong."
She further highlighted, "The project is well-prepared, with its economic feasibility (B/C 1.2) and project validity already proven through joint research by four cities." She once again stressed the necessity of including it in the National Railroad Network Construction Plan.
Governor Choo added, "I take to heart the urgent voices of the residents I have met on-site, as well as the aspirations contained in this first petition. As governor, I am showing strong resolve by directly communicating with central government ministries and speeding up the process."
In fact, Governor Choo recently held consecutive meetings with senior officials from the central government, explaining the need for the Southern Gyeonggi Metropolitan Railroad and requesting their cooperation. After meeting with Minister of Planning and Budget Park Honggeun on July 24, she held discussions with Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yoonduek on the 27th, strongly urging the inclusion of the project in the 5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan.
Saying, "I thank all residents who have shared their valuable opinions," Governor Choo stated, "Gyeonggi Province will continue to do its utmost to improve transportation convenience for residents and establish a sustainable metropolitan transportation system."
