The prosecution has requested the National Forensic Service to analyze psychoactive substances in order to verify the courtroom testimonies of three surviving victims from the "drug serial murder" case that occurred at motels in the Gangbuk District of Seoul.

View original imageOn July 28, the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office announced that it had recently asked the National Forensic Service to analyze changes in the physical properties, such as the appearance, when the psychoactive substances used by Kim Soyoung (age 20), who was arrested and prosecuted on charges including murder, aggravated assault, and violation of the Narcotics Control Act, are ground into powder in connection with this case.
The prosecution requested the drug analysis in response to the court's demand for objective evidence to support the credibility of the surviving victims' statements. According to the prosecution, all three surviving victims testified in court that they detected a strong bitter taste in the beverages given to them by Kim Soyoung.

From December last year to February this year, Kim was brought to trial on charges of giving beverages containing benzodiazepine drugs to three men in their 20s, resulting in the deaths of two and injuring one. In April of this year, Kim was additionally indicted on charges of injuring three more men using the same method. While Kim has admitted to meeting the victims involved in the additional charges, she denies giving them hangover drinks containing any drugs and maintains her innocence regarding those allegations.
