Haejin Kim Marks 50 Days as Chief of Geochang Police... "No Exceptions Before the Law and Principles"
Strict Action Against Relational Crimes, Agricultural Product Theft, and Election Offenses
Chief Kim: "Being an Outsider Is the Key to Fair Investigations"
On the occasion of his 50th day in office, Haejin Kim, Chief of Geochang Police Station, declared his commitment to ensuring strong, tangible public safety for county residents, stressing that "no one is exempt before the law and its principles."
Geochang County, with a population of about 60,000, includes over 40,000 residents in Geochang-eup and is recognized as a prominent educational city nationwide. Chief Kim emphasized that it is the police's role to create a safe community that is in line with the area’s considerable educational and cultural infrastructure.
In particular, Chief Kim pointed out that his lack of personal ties to Geochang is, in fact, an advantage for the fairness of police administration. He noted, "I can make decisions and conduct investigations solely based on the law and established principles, without being constrained by local interests," and promised, "I will not be a lenient police officer to some and strict to others, but a fair police officer to all county residents."

Regarding relational crimes such as domestic violence and dating violence, Chief Kim stated that the police plan to intervene proactively from the earliest stages and will strengthen victim protection to prevent repeat offenses. Furthermore, he is focusing on fostering a safe environment by firmly establishing basic order in daily life, so residents feel reassured in their community.
The police are also preparing a strong response to agricultural product theft, which typically rises during the upcoming harvest season. Chief Kim stated, "Stealing agricultural products, which are the result of farmers' hard work and dedication, is not a simple theft but a serious crime that threatens livelihoods." He added, "We will intensify patrols and prevention activities during vulnerable hours, and respond strictly to any incidents that occur."
Chief Kim made it clear that he is also dedicated to upholding integrity in the public sector. The police force will strictly adhere to laws such as the Act on the Prevention of Conflict of Interest, holding themselves to higher ethical standards and earning the trust of county residents.
He expressed a particularly firm stance regarding investigations of election-related offenses. Chief Kim stressed, "Crimes that undermine democracy, such as election violations, are serious offenses that cannot be taken lightly." He continued, "We will conduct rigorous investigations into all acts that threaten election order, such as illegal campaigning, offering money or goods, and spreading false information, regardless of position or rank."
Chief Kim added, "The fact that I have no personal ties to Geochang serves as a foundation for the most impartial policing possible for residents. I will focus exclusively on county residents and conduct investigations consistently, guided by the law and principles."
The message of Chief Haejin Kim on his 50th day in office is clear: he is committed to safeguarding public safety in Geochang through uncompromising adherence to principles and fair investigations, in pursuit of law and order for all residents.
"Law and principles" are proven not in words but in action. The message that Chief Haejin Kim has emphasized throughout his first 50 days is resolute: fair investigations, the safety of county residents, and unwavering enforcement of the law.
