Yeongcheon City (Mayor Kim Byungsam) has established a dedicated task force to attract the Korea Racing Authority (KRA) headquarters and has officially begun its campaign based on close cooperation with local political leaders and policymakers.
Yeongcheon City announced the launch of the “KRA Headquarters Relocation to Yeongcheon Task Force,” led by the Deputy Mayor, to facilitate a systematic bid to attract the headquarters.
The task force will consist of five working teams: the Planning and Strategy Team, the External Cooperation Team, the Site Infrastructure Team, the Settlement Support Team, and the Public Relations Team.
The task force aims to logically develop the necessity and justification for relocating the KRA headquarters and plans to strengthen cooperation with North Gyeongsang Province, as well as relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the National Assembly.
Its core strategy focuses on creating the “Korean Horse Industry Complex Hub,” integrating the under-construction Yeongcheon Race Park with the headquarters and integrated research, education, and tourism facilities related to the horse industry.
Additionally, the task force will prioritize establishing tailored settlement conditions (housing, education, healthcare, culture, etc.) for transferred employees and their families and seek to build a consensus among all citizens by transparently disclosing the project's progress.
On July 28, People Power Party provincial and city council members from Yeongcheon and the Yeongcheon City Council held a party-government consultative meeting in the city hall’s video conference room to discuss ways to collaborate on resolving key local issues.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the progress of key projects aimed at advancing Yeongcheon’s future growth, including the effort to attract the KRA headquarters, the construction of the Kumho Elementary School integrated complex, and the relocation of the Second Ammunition Depot.
Attendees agreed that the administration and local lawmakers would form a strong, unified communications network to proactively secure national and provincial budgets and respond to government-funded projects.

Mayor Kim Byungsam emphasized, “Attracting the KRA headquarters is a win-win strategy to help the Authority establish a new growth foundation on site. Leveraging the solid foundation of the Gyeongmu Park, together with close cooperation with North Gyeongsang Province and local political leaders, we will achieve meaningful results and secure national and provincial funding.”
