The report stated that symbolic regiments dressed in Korean War-era military uniforms and carrying rifles participated in the parade. The parade included units such as the elite regiment carrying a photo of Chairman Kim Il Sung, the Guard Kangkon 2nd Infantry Division symbolic regiment, the Guard Seoul Kim Chaek 4th Infantry Division symbolic regiment, the Guard 2nd Torpedo Boat Regiment symbolic regiment, and the Guard 56th Kim Ji-sang Hero Pursuit Squadron symbolic regiment. These regiments marched while holding the battle flags of their respective units from that era.
The agency introduced each symbolic regiment, claiming they had built “legendary achievements” during operations such as the so-called “Seoul Liberation Operation” and “Daejeon Liberation Operation” during the war. It added that, following these symbolic regiments, the currently much stronger North Korean armed forces (including the Army, Navy, and Air Force regiments) entered the square to showcase their imposing presence. By arranging regiments that recreated Korean War-era units, followed by the current North Korean Army, Navy, and Air Force regiments, the event underscored the connection between the wartime and present generations.
North Korean Defense Minister No Kwang Chol emphasized in his speech at the event that they “will never tolerate the acts of forces constantly threatening our sovereignty and security,” and stressed that, “as a responsible and explicit exercise of war deterrence, we will defend our constitution, sovereignty, and developmental interests, as well as safeguard regional peace and security.”
On the same day, Kim Jong Un, together with his wife Ri Sol Ju and daughter Ju Ae, attended the “73rd Anniversary Commemorative Performance for the Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.” Senior officials from the Workers’ Party, government, and military, as well as war veterans and those recognized for their wartime service, attended the performance. Diplomats from China and Russia stationed in North Korea were also invited.
Notably, the commemorative performance featured videos about the participation of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army and included Chinese songs. Amid ongoing high-level exchanges between North Korea and China, this move appeared to highlight the traditional “blood alliance” and close cooperation between the two nations.
The agency reported that, “Video compilations demonstrating the fearless sacrifice, heroism, and remarkable achievements of the outstanding sons and daughters of the Chinese people, who shared life and death alongside our people in the trenches against imperialist aggression, along with performances of Chinese songs such as the ‘Chinese People's Volunteer Army Battle Hymn,’ left a deep impression on the audience.”

It added that the friendship between North Korea and China, based on shared ideology and fighting comradeship, will remain immortal along with the history of this great victory.
