Gyeonggi-do to Support Global Joint Research and Overseas Expansion of AI Companies
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government is launching an initiative to support the global joint research and overseas expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) companies.
On July 28, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that it has selected 20 preliminary participating companies to support small and start-up businesses that possess outstanding AI technological capabilities but face difficulties due to a lack of overseas proof-of-concept opportunities, global collaborative networks, and local market entry foundations.
These preliminary participants will share strategies for conducting global joint research and case studies on entering overseas markets, starting with the orientation session for the "2026 Gyeonggi AI Global Bridge," which is scheduled for July 29. In August, seminars for developing R&D and overseas expansion strategies, as well as customized coaching and mentoring for each company, will help them refine their international joint research projects and commercialization plans.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will hold a Demo Day on August 20, comprehensively evaluating research plans and commercialization strategies, and then select 12 companies out of the original 20 to receive support. The selected companies will gain access to international joint research efforts in key regions such as Texas in the United States, Quebec in Canada, Singapore, and Osaka in Japan, along with tailored overseas market entry programs.

Lee Jinbit, Head of AI Frontier Policy at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "We are expanding our support to ensure that AI companies in the province can go beyond technology development and engage in global joint research and overseas market entry." She added, "We will continue to provide customized support so that outstanding AI companies can achieve tangible results in the global market."
