The People Power Party stated, "At the operations committee meeting, Assemblyman Kim Hyungdong, who was the sole registered candidate, was unanimously elected as the chairman. The appointment will be finalized upon approval by the People Power Party’s Supreme Council on July 30, and the term of office will be one year."
Kim Hyungdong, the newly appointed provincial party chairman, is a two-term lawmaker who was elected as the representative of Andong City and Yecheon County for both the 21st and the 22nd National Assembly. He currently serves as the secretary for the People Power Party on the Climate, Energy, Environment and Labor Committee, and has previously held positions including floor deputy leader, chief spokesperson, chief of staff to the Emergency Response Committee chair, and chairman of the Labor Committee. He is also the vice chairman of the People Power Party’s policy committee.
