KFA Hearing on the 30th... Speaker Jo Jungsik: "Public Concern, KFA Must Become a Transparent and Fair Organization"
With the National Assembly hearing on the Korea Football Association (KFA) scheduled for July 30, Speaker of the National Assembly Jo Jung-sik called on the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to ensure that the KFA is reestablished as a transparent and fair organization.

View original imageOn July 27, Speaker Jo met with Choi Huiyoung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at the National Assembly and referred to the upcoming hearing, emphasizing, "With this World Cup as a turning point, the operation of the Korea Football Association has become a matter of public concern." The KFA has been embroiled in controversy over alleged unfairness in the process of appointing the national team coach. The National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee is set to summon witnesses, including former Chairman Chung Monggyu and former national team coach Hong Myungbo, for questioning. Park Jisung, Co-Chairman of the K-Football Innovation Committee, and Yoo Seungmin, President of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, will also attend the hearing as references.
Meanwhile, Speaker Jo asked Minister Choi to spare no effort in ensuring the success of the 2027 Seoul World Youth Day, which is expected to attract 400,000 participants from overseas, stressing, "As the chief coordinating body, please work closely with relevant agencies to guarantee a smooth and successful event."
