Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province, led by County Governor Jeon Jinseon, has officially begun efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of the Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway project and to develop the best route plan reflecting local opinions.

View original imageYangpyeong County announced on the 27th that, on the 24th, it held the appointment ceremony and the first meeting of the 'Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway Promotion Team' in the main conference room of the county office, thereby launching a public-private cooperation system for promoting the project.
The promotion team comprises 17 members in total, led by the deputy governor and includes members from the county council, local community representatives, road experts, and relevant civil servants. Going forward, the team will serve as an advisory body, collecting various local opinions related to the Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway and devising an optimal route plan that takes into account local conditions.
During the appointment ceremony, Yangpyeong County Governor Jeon Jinseon presented appointment letters to the team members and shared guidance on future operations.
At the first meeting that followed, members reviewed the progress and current status of the Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway project and had an in-depth discussion on approaches for devising Yangpyeong County's own optimal route plan.
In particular, the participants agreed to derive an objective and reasonable route plan through professional consulting services, review it within the promotion team, and then officially submit the proposal to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.
The Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway is a national arterial road project that will connect Gamildong in Hanam City to Yangpyeong via Gwangju City. Recently, with bids announced for a feasibility study service, the project has been gaining momentum once again.
Going forward, Yangpyeong County plans to collect a wide range of opinions from residents and experts through the promotion team, while comprehensively considering factors such as improved transportation convenience, balanced regional development, and tourism revitalization in order to develop the optimal route plan to propose to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.
Governor Jeon Jinseon of Yangpyeong County stated, "The Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway is a key national project that will drive the future growth and regional development of Yangpyeong. We will concentrate all administrative efforts to devise the optimal route plan, based on objective and reasonable reviews, that will gain broad support from residents and to ensure that the project proceeds without issue."
