Hyundai Glovis Expands Non-Affiliate Client Base by Transporting Chinese Batteries and Finished Cars
Finished Vehicle and Heavy Equipment Volume from China Up 93% Over Three Years
"Targeting KRW 40 Trillion in Sales by 2030"
Hyundai Glovis is expanding its non-affiliate sales by signing consecutive transportation contracts with Chinese companies.
On the 27th, Hyundai Glovis announced that it had signed a transportation contract with a leading Chinese battery company. Under the agreement, it will transport electric vehicle batteries produced by this company from southern coastal regions of China, such as South China, to Hungary, Spain, and Italy, where global automotive manufacturers' factories are located, via ocean shipping.
Previously, Hyundai Glovis also signed transportation contracts with major Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers to deliver semi-knockdown (KD) automobile parts and press factory equipment to plants in Eastern Europe. As a result, since the first half of the year, it has been transporting finished auto parts and press factory equipment, collected from shipping locations including plants in East China, by sea to destinations such as Slovenia and Croatia, and then carrying them by truck and other land-based transport to the respective factories.
Through its 'end-to-end' service — covering transportation from Chinese factories to those in Eastern Europe — Hyundai Glovis is providing cargo owners with highly efficient logistics supply chains.
In addition, the company secured a work contract for vehicle dismantling and packaging from a Chinese automaker. After taking delivery of vehicles produced in China, Hyundai Glovis inspects their quality in warehouses, dismantles and packages them, loads them into containers, and then ships them via the Trans China Railway (TCR) to destinations such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
These transportation operations by Hyundai Glovis make use of a container forwarding system built on its global logistics infrastructure and network. A specialized freight forwarding company is responsible for managing and executing the entire logistics process from point of origin to final destination.
Through its Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) fleet, Hyundai Glovis is also handling sea transportation for multiple Chinese automakers. The amount of finished cars transported from China by PCTC by Hyundai Glovis has increased 93% over the past three years, rising from about 260,000 vehicles in 2023 to around 510,000 in 2025.
A Hyundai Glovis official stated, "Due to the terms of our contracts with cargo owners, it is difficult to disclose the exact volume or freight rates. However, we are continuously securing shipments from Chinese companies through active sales efforts."
Hyundai Glovis is communicating proactively with its Chinese clients to promote its transportation competitiveness. In March, the company participated in the "World Breakbulk Expo (WBX) 2026" held at the Shanghai World Expo Convention Center, showcasing its maritime business delivering with a large fleet of over 120 vessels. With China being the world's largest producer of construction equipment and industrial machinery, Hyundai Glovis highlighted its capacity to transport large cargo such as construction equipment and commercial vehicles. Recently, the company has also established a dedicated cargo team and is striving to further strengthen its logistics capabilities in this area.
