LG Electronics Becomes First in Korea to Earn NVIDIA Certification for Liquid Cooling Solution 'CDU'
600 kW-Class Coolant Distribution Unit Receives Quality Certification
Targeting the AI Data Center Market with a "Chip-to-Chiller" Total Solution
LG Electronics is accelerating its efforts to penetrate the global artificial intelligence (AI) data center market by introducing a high-efficiency liquid cooling solution, which has become the first in Korea to receive NVIDIA certification.
LG Electronics announced on July 27 that it has recently obtained final quality certification from NVIDIA for its 600 kW-class coolant distribution unit (CDU). This device employs a "direct-to-chip" method, in which coolant is circulated via cold plates attached to high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs) and central processing units (CPUs) to absorb and dissipate heat, effectively overcoming the limitations of traditional air-cooled systems. The CDU achieves temperature control precision within ±0.25°C and ensures continuous operation through features such as leak detection and redundant pump and power designs.

Beginning with the 600 kW-class certification, the company plans to sequentially pursue NVIDIA certification for its lineup of large-capacity CDUs—including 1 MW, 2.5 MW, and 4 MW models—to meet future megawatt-scale demand.
Furthermore, LG Electronics is strengthening its "chip-to-chiller" total solution, connecting every stage of data center thermal management from chillers to CDUs to cold plates. The company is expanding its cooling solution supplies to global sites, including the AI data center design, construction, and operation (DBO) projects with LG CNS, modular AI data center projects, and facilities for North American hyperscalers as well as data centers in Indonesia.
