Yongin Y Pay Recharge Limit Lowered from 500,000 to 300,000 Won... Number of Beneficiaries to Increase by 64%
Yongin City to Revamp Yongin Y-Pay System
Lower Charging Limit and Expand Eligibility
Starting in August... Beneficiaries to Reach Around 60,000
Yongin Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Sangil) will adjust the monthly incentive recharge limit for the local currency "Yongin Y Pay" from 500,000 won to 300,000 won. This measure aims to address the early exhaustion of the budget due to reduced national and provincial subsidies and to enable more citizens to benefit from the program.
Yongin Special City announced on July 27 that it will change the incentive recharge limit for Yongin Y Pay starting in August.
Currently, repeated instances of the incentive budget being depleted early have occurred due to decreases in national and provincial subsidies and an increase in users. In response, the city has revised the policy to lower the monthly recharge limit but expand the number of eligible recipients, ensuring that more citizens can benefit from the local currency program.
As a result, the maximum monthly incentive-eligible recharge limit will be reduced from the current 500,000 won to 300,000 won. However, the incentive discount rate will remain at 10% as before.
The city expects that, with this adjustment, the number of citizens receiving incentive benefits will increase by approximately 64%, from the current 37,000 to 60,700.
The recharge method will also be improved. Previously, users who accessed the system in advance before the recharge start time would secure a spot in the waiting queue, but going forward, all users will enter the waiting queue simultaneously once charging begins, thereby enhancing fairness. This is also expected to reduce the inconvenience of having to connect hours in advance to recharge.
Mayor Lee Sangil stated, "We plan to improve the user environment so that all users can recharge under the same conditions by expanding the number of incentive recipients and easing the burden of having to connect in advance. While increasing operational efficiency so that more citizens can enjoy the benefits, we will also make every effort to secure national and provincial funds, continuing with local currency policies that citizens can truly feel."
