Group Brawl Involving Over 10 Foreign Nationals in Eumseong, North Chungcheong; 2 Dead or Injured
A Malaysian man in his 40s has been arrested by police after fatally stabbing a rival with a weapon during a group fight in Eumseong, North Chungcheong Province.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Eumseong Police Station in North Chungcheong Province has detained and is investigating a Malaysian national in his 40s, identified as A, on suspicion of murder and other charges as of July 26, 2026. A is accused of killing B, a fellow Malaysian in his 20s, during a street brawl that took place around 3 a.m. that same day in Daeso-eup, Eumseong-gun.
Reports indicate that about 10 people were involved in the group fight on both sides. Both groups, who were reportedly on bad terms, are said to have intentionally met up that day to engage in the fight.
B, who was seriously injured in the street melee, was transported to a hospital but died. Another individual also sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

After the incident, A fled to a nearby residence but was apprehended by police about an hour later. Police plan to apply for an arrest warrant after investigating the exact details of the crime. Officers are also closely investigating the level of involvement of the other participants in the fight and will decide whether to take any further action against them.
