Ground Collapse in Shanxi, China... Five Residents Die as Houses Are Buried
Three Hospitalized... No Life-Threatening Injuries
In Shanxi Province, northern China, a residential house was buried due to a ground collapse, resulting in five deaths.
According to local Chinese media on July 25, the accident occurred around 6:49 p.m. the previous day, when loess ground suddenly collapsed in a village in Hongtong County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province.
Local authorities stated that eight residents were buried under the earth due to the accident. After deploying more than 550 personnel—including police, fire, and medical teams—the search and rescue operation led to all individuals being found.
Five of those rescued were pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining three were transported to a hospital and are receiving treatment. It is reported that their lives are not in danger.
