Biobytes Teams Up with IntoApp to Initiate Development of Antibody Therapeutics for Sarcopenia
Biobytes, a company developing new drugs for sarcopenia based on blood and tissue cohort data from elderly patients, announced that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with IntoApp, a company specializing in antibody synthesis and new drug development.
Biobytes identifies targets for sarcopenia drug discovery using blood, tissue, and clinical data from elderly individuals with an average age above 70. The company repeatedly conducts its own drug development process and early-stage technology transfer.
IntoApp manufactures and synthesizes some of the highest-quality antibodies in Korea, accelerating its new drug development business through partnerships with various pharmaceutical companies, government agencies, and academic research institutions.
The goal of this strategic agreement is to bind IntoApp’s unique antibody synthesis technologies with the sarcopenia drug targets discovered by Biobytes, aiming for early-stage technology transfer at the phase 1 clinical trial stage.
It is expected that the synergy between precision-target identification based on real clinical data from elderly patients and advanced antibody synthesis technologies could transform the global market for treatments for elderly diseases.
Jungwoo Lee, CEO of Biobytes, commented, "This business agreement with IntoApp will lead to the first antibody therapeutic pipeline targeting the sarcopenia drugs discovered by Biobytes," adding, "We are delighted to collaborate with IntoApp, which boasts the highest level of antibody synthesis platforms in Korea."
Sungyoung Lee, CEO of IntoApp, stated, "As the risk of sarcopenia continues to rise, we are pleased to work with Biobytes, which owns biobank cohort data from the elderly." He added, "Through this partnership, we aim to achieve the world's first successful development of an antibody therapeutic for sarcopenia."
