Ko Jongsam, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Jeonbuk Special Autonomous Province, officially took office on the 24th and began work focused on restoring the local economy and strengthening future growth engines.
After reporting for duty to the Governor of the province, Vice Governor Ko held an introductory meeting with senior officials and began his official schedule as the 22nd Vice Governor for Economic Affairs.

View original imageIn his inaugural address, he emphasized the importance of “changes that residents can truly feel.” Vice Governor Ko stated, “Jeonbuk faces a critical period in which revitalizing the local economy and fostering new growth engines is essential. I will pursue growth that residents can tangibly experience in their daily lives by putting on-site action and execution at the center of our efforts.”
He also outlined his vision to leverage his experience in central government to bridge national policies with key issues in Jeonbuk, and to ensure that budgets, regulations, and corporate investments effectively drive regional growth.
Vice Governor Ko pledged to break down barriers between different ranks and departments and to foster an organizational culture of open communication with public officials. “By finding solutions in the field and building trust through communication, I intend to create changes that residents can truly experience,” he said.
Originally from Gochang, Vice Governor Ko previously served as Director of Fund Management Planning and Audit Director at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. He also gained experience in budget, fiscal management, and policy planning as Director of Planning and Operations at the Presidential Committee for Basic Social Security.
