Choi Baek-ho's 50th Anniversary Album "Applause" Features O'PEN Songwriters from CJ ENM
Singer Choi Baek-ho will release his 50th anniversary album "Applause" on July 24. CJ ENM announced on the same day that composers from its "O'PEN Music" project, which supports emerging songwriters, participated in the making of the album. This marks the second time Choi Baek-ho and O'PEN Music have collaborated on an album, following their first project together in 2022.
The album features a total of eight tracks, including the double title songs "Applause" and "Yeogwang," as well as "You Were My First Love," "Kkang-sul," "But, I Sing," "Please, Accept These Flowers," "Life Is, What Life Is," and more. A newly arranged version of one of Choi Baek-ho’s signature songs, "About Romance (50th Anniversary)," is also included.
"Applause" is an album in which Choi Baek-ho looks back on the journey he has taken since his debut and expresses his gratitude to his audience. JAYINS, Moon Jung-uk, Lee Yeon, SAMIN, Cody J, JUHWAN, and All day on, all composers from O'PEN Music, contributed to the production of the album.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, O'PEN is CJ ENM's program to support new creators. Its music segment, O'PEN Music, selects promising new composers and provides them with mentoring from working composers and producers. The program also offers composition, mixing, and recording education, a collaborative songwriting program called Song Camp, and support for releasing music tracks.
As of last year, O'PEN Music has produced 115 composers, who together have worked on around 600 tracks. They have participated in music production for dramas, films, variety shows, online video service (OTT) content, and albums by various singers.
