COSMAX Supports Direct Exports of K-Beauty Indie Brands
A Dedicated "Export/Import Support" Menu Added to the Exclusive Online Client Platform
Online Access to Documents, Forms, and Q&A, plus Hands-on Training, Consulting, and Agency Coordination
COSMAX, a cosmetic research, development, and manufacturing (ODM) company, announced on the 24th that it has launched an "Export/Import Support" menu on its exclusive online customer platform, "e-biz," providing services to support the entire export and import process.
Client companies can access e-biz and register the support they need to receive online consulting and practical assistance. Services include everything from simple export procedure guidance to the preparation of shipping documents, issuance of certificates of origin, handling of customs duty refunds (advance import declaration), as well as logistics and customs brokerage coordination. All aspects of the export and import process can be managed through this single platform.
The services will be handled exclusively by COSMAX’s export/import management team. COSMAX is currently directly exporting finished goods to 43 countries, and when including indirect exports, it reaches around 120 countries. Last year, COSMAX became the first domestic cosmetics ODM company to receive the "200 Million Dollar Export Tower" award and has set a goal of achieving 300 million dollars in exports this year.
COSMAX operates a global supply chain, sourcing raw and subsidiary materials from 46 countries. It holds Export-Import Safety Management Excellent Company (AEO) certification from the Korea Customs Service, along with qualifications as an authorized exporter and bonded warehouse operator. COSMAX is applying the know-how it has accumulated over more than 20 years in export and import operations to its new service.
The reason COSMAX has expanded its support from production to practical export tasks is that the structure of the K-Beauty market is rapidly evolving. Recently, while major brands have dominated in the past, small and indie brands are showing notable growth in overseas markets. However, many of these companies have faced difficulties with export operations such as complying with country-specific customs regulations, obtaining certificates of origin, and preparing shipping documents.
In fact, according to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, export value for SME cosmetics in the first half of this year was a provisional 5.07 billion dollars, marking a 30.7% increase from the same period last year. Cosmetics have become the largest export item among all SME product categories, accounting for the highest proportion (7.9%) of total exports. COSMAX determined that demand for practical export support has increased substantially among its client companies as it has co-developed products tailored for overseas markets with indie brands.
