Jin Ji-eun has returned to the top of the leaderboard for the first time in a while.
On July 24 (Korean time), she carded seven birdies and one bogey in the first round of the LPGA Tour ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open (total prize money: 2 million dollars) held at Dundonald Links (par 72, 6,538 yards) in North Ayrshire, Scotland. Shooting a 6-under-par 66, Jin Ji-eun shares the joint lead with Lauren Coughlin of the United States.

View original imageJin Ji-eun picked up birdies on holes 10, 12, and 14, then trimmed another stroke on the last hole of the front nine, the par-5 18th. On the back nine, she lost a shot with a bogey on the par-3 4th after a birdie on the par-5 3rd, but added two more birdies on holes 7 and 9 to finish the round. Despite missing the fairway six times, her putting was outstanding at just 24 putts. Her average driving distance was 265 yards.
Jin Ji-eun is a veteran who debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2011. She achieved her sole victory at the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout. After her round, Jin Ji-eun expressed satisfaction, saying, "I had a really good round." She added, "My fairway accuracy was a bit low, but that's partly due to the nature of the links course. My tee shots weren't bad either."

Kim A-lim is in 3rd place (5-under-par 67). Miyu Yamashita and Erika Hara (both from Japan) are tied for 5th (2-under-par 70), while Nelly Korda (United States) is tied for 14th (even-par 72). Yoon Ina and Chun In-gee are tied for 21st (1-over-par 73), and rookie Hwang Yoomin is tied for 33rd (2-over-par 74). Kim Hyo-joo, who is aiming for her third win of the season, carded four birdies, three bogeys, and two double bogeys. She finished with a 3-over-par 75, tying for 46th with Lee Mi-hyang, Kim Se-young, and Kang Minji.
