Ahn Hoyoung Contributes to Jinangun's Selection for Three Public Project Competitions
Secured Regional Projects Worth 4.7 Billion Won
It has been confirmed that Democratic Party lawmaker Ahn Ho-young has played a key role in helping Jinangun secure selections in three consecutive central government and public institution project competitions.
According to Assemblyman Ahn's office on July 23, Jinangun was recently selected for a total of three public project competitions: two from Korea Water Resources Corporation and one from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
This series of project selections was achieved by linking initiatives from Korea Water Resources Corporation and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Jinangun first secured 500 million won in funding for the "Smart Green Road Development Project" through a dam support project competition by Korea Water Resources Corporation.
Subsequently, based on this project, Jinangun was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's “Local Demand Tailored Support Project,” securing an additional 3 billion won in national funding. When combined with 1.2 billion won in local government funding from Jinangun, the total project budget increased to 4.7 billion won.
The "Smart Green Road" initiative is a project that combines eco-friendly transportation options with spaces for residents and tourists to relax and stay, making movement more convenient. The main features include demand-responsive transport (DRT), electric vehicles, electric bicycles, and stay-type hubs, all integrated to improve mobility for residents and to transform the area into a destination where tourists spend more time.
In addition, Jinangun was selected for Korea Water Resources Corporation’s public competition project, the “Manghyang Garden of Memory Regeneration Project,” securing an additional 100 million won in funding.
Assemblyman Ahn explained that since Korea Water Resources Corporation is under the jurisdiction of the National Assembly’s Climate and Labor Committee, his activities as committee chair contributed to this achievement. He approached the process by identifying needed projects in the region in advance, then securing budgets by connecting them with projects from central ministries and public institutions.
Assemblyman Ahn identified attracting a pumped-storage power station as Jinangun’s next pressing agenda. Pumped-storage power generation works by pumping water to a higher elevation when electricity demand is low, then releasing it to generate electricity when demand increases, serving as an energy storage and grid management solution.
