Gwangyang City Invites Applications for Participatory Budget Committee Members
Recruiting 10 Members Until August 7
Expanding Citizen Participation in Budget Management
Gwangyang City, part of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Unified Special City, announced that it will be accepting public applications for the 6th Gwangyang City Participatory Budget Committee members until August 7 in order to reflect citizens' opinions in the budgeting process and enhance transparency in fiscal management.
The participatory budget system allows residents to directly propose local issues and review the budget during the budget process. It is operated so that citizens can participate in the budgeting process, including collecting public opinions and reviewing proposed projects.
This public recruitment will select 10 members, and the application period runs from July 23 to August 7.
Any citizen who is residing in Gwangyang City as of the date of the announcement is eligible to apply. However, those who have been sentenced to imprisonment or a more severe punishment, individuals with delinquent local tax payments as of the announcement date, and those who have caused significant public controversy and been subject to public criticism will be excluded from consideration.
To apply, citizens may download the application form from the Gwangyang City official website and submit it via email, or visit the general affairs team at their nearest town or township office, or the Planning and Budget Office at Gwangyang City Hall, to apply in person.
If the number of applicants exceeds the recruitment quota, the city will give priority to members of minority groups, such as youth, teenagers, and people with disabilities, as well as individuals who can represent specific fields, to ensure that the perspectives of diverse groups are reflected in the budget.
