Woldeks and Gumi City to Invest 260 Billion Won to Scale Up Semiconductor Materials Production Hub
New Essential Semiconductor Parts Plant to Be Built
Woldeks, a Local Company with 26 Years in Gumi
More Than 370 New Jobs Expected
Woldeks Co., Ltd., a semiconductor materials and components specialist, will invest 260 billion won in Gumi. This marks the first large-scale investment attraction from a semiconductor materials company since the launch of Gumi City’s 9th popularly elected administration.
On July 23, Gumi City, along with Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Woldeks, announced that they had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at City Hall to expand product manufacturing facilities.

The total investment amounts to 260 billion won, and the company is expected to create more than 370 new jobs.
Woldeks, which began in the Gumi 4th Industrial Complex in 2000, has grown alongside Gumi for 26 years as a leading local company. In response to the growing global demand for semiconductors, the company has chosen to reinvest in Gumi to increase production capacity and secure a stable supply chain.
This investment is being seen as evidence of Gumi's competitiveness as a key hub for the semiconductor materials, components, and equipment (SoBuJang) industry.
In particular, Gumi City’s efforts to improve the investment environment—such as securing land and supporting permits and approvals—are considered to have contributed to Woldeks’ reinvestment decision.
Bae Jongsik, CEO of Woldeks, stated, "Gumi, which has been the foundation of our company, is the optimal partner to respond to the long-term increase in semiconductor demand," adding, "We aim to further strengthen our global competitiveness."
Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi, said, "Woldeks's large-scale investment demonstrates the trust companies place in Gumi as the optimal location for the semiconductor industry," and added, "We will fully support companies so they can invest and grow with stability."
With this investment, Gumi City plans to accelerate industry-academia-research cooperation within the specialized semiconductor complex, foster professional talent, and attract additional investment.
