The signing ceremony was attended by Yangju Mayor Jung Deok-young, Oh Wan-seok, Head of Regional Development Headquarters at Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Development Corporation (GH), Kim Philip, CEO of Logistics Valley, Jung Dae-hwa, President of Manufacturing Technology Center at LG Electronics, and Song Si-yong, Head of the Robotics Business Center at LG Electronics.
According to the agreement, Logistics Valley will establish the "Seoul & Northern Greater Seoul Hub Center" on a 169,700 square meter site (approximately 51,000 pyeong) within the Eunnam General Industrial Complex, featuring a total floor area of 440,210 square meters (about 130,000 pyeong) across four above-ground floors. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 with completion aimed for 2030, and a total of 1 trillion won will be invested, including 800 billion won for construction and 200 billion won for logistics facility installation.
Once the hub center is completed, it is expected to create around 5,000 jobs. Yangju City expects that the large-scale, high-tech logistics facility will not only attract businesses and invigorate the local economy but also further strengthen the logistics infrastructure competitiveness of northern Gyeonggi Province.
Logistics Valley is Korea's largest integrated logistics platform company, developing and operating 26 integrated logistics complexes nationwide. Recently, the company has joined forces with LG Electronics to build next-generation logistics centers utilizing AI and robotics, pushing forward logistics innovation.
LG Electronics will support the development of the intelligent logistics system by applying physical AI-based robotics technologies to enhance logistics automation and operational efficiency. As a result, the new hub center to be built in the Eunnam General Industrial Complex is expected to become an AI-based smart logistics hub, surpassing the role of a mere logistics facility.
This investment is seen as both enhancing the competitiveness of the Eunnam General Industrial Complex and transforming Yangju into the core city for advanced logistics industries in northern Gyeonggi Province. The city plans to accelerate further investment attraction by improving the business environment and strengthening administrative support.
