"Waiting for the Right Time to Invest in Stocks, Won't Buy Even Under Pressure"... Advice from Comedian-Turned-Investment Expert Hwang Hyunhee
"Now Is a Market for Skilled Traders,
Better to Wait Until Year-End"
Comedian-turned-investor Hwang Hyunhee recently commented on the stock market, stating, "Now is the time to take a break," advising investors to refrain from making hasty investments. He explained that it is difficult for individual investors to respond in periods of extreme short-term volatility.

He noted, "A volatile market with daily swings of 7% to 8% is a territory where ordinary investors have a hard time coping," and added, "Currently, the market favors those with strong short-term trading skills."
"Chance of a Correction by Year-End... Could Signal the 'AI Bubble' Debate"
Looking ahead, Hwang Hyunhee placed emphasis on the possibility of a market correction. He said, "Wait until the end of the year. There could be articles in the U.S. suggesting that the 'AI bubble may be bursting,'" and predicted, "In the course of that, it's possible we will naturally see a correction."
He added, "At the moment, I'm holding cash," stressing, "I won't invest now, even if my back is against the wall." Defining himself as a "cycle investor," he shared his principle: "I only buy when prices have dropped 30% or more from their previous peak."
As a specific investment strategy, Hwang suggested a gradual, phased-in buying approach. For example, splitting 100 million won into five parts of 20 million won each, then beginning to purchase when the price falls 15% from its previous peak, and continuing to buy with each additional 5% drop. For investment products, he mentioned ETFs tracking the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 indices (QQQ, SPY).
"Learning Comes Before Immediate Buying"
However, he underscored the importance of building long-term investment competence, cautioning, "It's more important to study first than to rush to hit the buy button right now." As recommended reading, he suggested André Kostolany's "The Art of Loving Money and Handling It Coldly" and Howard Marks' "The Most Important Thing: Uncommon Sense for the Thoughtful Investor," saying, "Just by reading these two books carefully, your perspective on the market will completely change."
